Gemma is a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist, Counsellor and Play Therapist.

Training

Her qualifications include an Honours Degree in Psychology, a Diploma with distinction in Hypnotherapy, a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Pschotherapeutic Counselling and a Masters Degree in Play Therapy. She has completed both specialist training in the treatment of anxiety issues and the renowned ASIST suicide intervention programme.  

As a member of The National Hypnotherapy Society and The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society she adheres to strict codes of ethics and practice. She also holds Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society.

Background

Gemma’s background is in education, with a specialism in supporting those with special education needs. She moved away from this after becoming a parent and began training in hypnotherapy and counselling. Very early in her training she began to recognise how hypnotherapy and counselling can be a remarkably effective in the treatment of a wide range of issues including anxiety and low self-esteem. Additionally, her education background allowed her to recognise how hypnotherapy in particular can work equally well for both adults and children. After completing this training she began to specialise in two areas:
– treating children through hypnotherapy
– treating anxiety issues in both adults and children

In 2016 she went on to complete a Masters Degree in Play Therapy and in 2019, she returned to her counselling training, completing and Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. This included working for the well known and prestigious counselling charity Mind. Gemma now combines her skills to offer services in hypnotherapy, counselling and parenting support.
Additionally, Gemma’s specialist anxiety training means that she has also worked with the anxiety charity Anxiety UK as one of their approved therapists.
